Aplicação de Hanwha EVA 2815 resina de copolímero EVA,28% VA,15 MI,Grado adesivo de fusão quente

Corrugated case and carton sealing lines operating above 25 m/min use hot melt formulations built around 28 wt% vinyl acetate EVA because the polar acetate group promotes wetting of clay-coated recycled linerboard and ultraviolet-cured inks. Hanwha EVA 2815, with a melt flow rate of 15 g/10 min measured under ASTM D1238-20 at 190°C and 2.16 kg, enters a gear-pump applicator at 150°C–170°C, where its formulated viscosity typically falls between 600 mPa·s and 1,400 mPa·s depending on tackifier type. The 28 wt% vinyl acetate content increases adhesion to polar cellulose surfaces but also elevates low-temperature flexibility; formulations with 30 wt%–40 wt% resin, 30 wt%–40 wt% hydrogenated rosin ester or C5/C9 tackifier, and 20 wt%–30 wt% Fischer-Tropsch wax are processed through slot-orifice heads and fibre pull-down belts. Compression time is normally 1 s–4 s because the adhesive develops fibre-tearing bonds on corrugated medium before the molten phase has cooled below the solidification range. Open time is formulation-dependent, commonly 0.5 s–3.0 s on unlined kraft at plant temperatures of 20°C–35°C. One known processing failure is viscosity drift caused by prolonged residence in unheated filters or dead spots in the manifold; line operators replace 100-mesh or 150-mesh filter elements at intervals determined by pressure drop increases greater than 0.5 MPa. Another failure mode is stringing at dispense valve closure, which increases with higher vinyl acetate content if wax loading is below 15 wt%; adding a narrow-melting microcrystalline wax or increasing application temperature by 5°C reduces tail break but may sacrifice shear adhesion.

Indirect food-contact status is governed by FDA 21 CFR 175.105 for the finished adhesive rather than the resin alone, and European converters frequently require compliance with Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 for packaging contact. The appropriate test designations for quality control in this segment are ASTM D4498-07 for heat-fail temperature under shear, ASTM D1876-08 for T-peel strength, and ASTM D3111-10 for cold flexibility, all executed on bonded specimens conditioned at 23°C and 50% relative humidity.

What process limits emerge when EVA 2815 is applied at 160°C in edge banding?

Because 28 wt% vinyl acetate reduces the crystalline regions of the polyethylene backbone, edge banding formulations based on Hanwha EVA 2815 provide a wider adhesion window to primed PVC, ABS, PET and continuous-roll melamine paper, but the same composition lowers the heat softening point compared with 18 wt% VA grades. On industrial edge banders fitted with pre-melters and roller application systems, the operating temperature is usually set between 170°C and 200°C; viscosity at the application roller should remain below 1,200 mPa·s to prevent starved bond lines on thin edges. The 15 g/10 min melt flow rate under ASTM D1238-20 permits rapid wet-out of edge banding substrates, but it also requires tighter temperature control because viscosity sensitivity above 180°C can produce inconsistent film thickness. A production-scale issue in this segment is contamination from MDF or HDF machining dust, which raises apparent viscosity and produces burn spots; a 150-mesh in-line filter and nitrogen-blanketed pre-melter reduce char in continuous operation. The applied bond is clamped at roller pressures of 0.3 MPa–0.6 MPa for 0.5 s–2.0 s, after which the line is usually cut within 3 s. Heat resistance is measured with ASTM D4498-07 using a 2.0 kg shear load and a 40°C chamber, while T-peel adhesion is evaluated according to ISO 11339:2022. Extended hold times above 180°C accelerate vinyl acetate hydrolysis, releasing acetic acid and darkening the molten adhesive; therefore, pre-melters should be loaded with no more than 30–45 min of consumption at full line speed.

Perfect binding lines demand low creep under 40°C shelf stacking.

Bookbinding adhesives formulated with Hanwha EVA 2815 use the 28 wt% vinyl acetate content to penetrate coated paper surfaces and maintain page flexibility after the spine is flexed at low temperature. In perfect binding, the spine adhesive is typically compounded to 1,500 mPa·s–3,500 mPa·s at 160°C, while side glue formulations are adjusted to 800 mPa·s–1,500 mPa·s for wheel application; both variants include 25 wt%–35 wt% EVA 2815, 30 wt%–40 wt% rosin ester or terpene phenol tackifier, and 20 wt%–30 wt% microcrystalline or Fischer-Tropsch wax. Application is performed from heated reservoirs at 140°C–170°C through slot nozzles onto milled book blocks, followed by cover nipping at 0.2 MPa–0.4 MPa for 0.3 s–1.5 s. Page-pull and flex testing are not covered by a single harmonised ISO method, and published data for EVA 2815 in loaded book constructions is limited; therefore, converters qualify bond performance using internal fixture tests and cold-crack checks according to ASTM D3111-10. The main processing risk is migration of low-molecular-weight tackifier into the cover paper after slow cooling, which appears as surface staining when books are stacked above 40°C. This defect is controlled by increasing wax crystallinity and limiting tackifier loading to below 40 wt%. Scuff resistance is evaluated by repeated flexing of the spine and visual inspection of page release, while heat resistance under stack load is measured with ASTM D4498-07.

Across nonwoven lamination lines for absorbent hygiene products, EVA 2815 is formulated into construction adhesives that bond polyethylene films to nonwoven fabrics and secure elastic strands. The 28 wt% vinyl acetate content contributes polar interaction with treated polyolefin surfaces, while the 15 g/10 min melt flow rate under ASTM D1238-20 enables spiral spray and slot coating at 150°C–180°C when formulated viscosity is adjusted to 800 mPa·s–1,800 mPa·s. The molten adhesive is delivered by gear pump through a combination of air-assisted spiral nozzles and multi-bead heads; open time on high-speed lines is usually less than 0.5 s, requiring tackifier systems with rapid set-up behaviour. In this application, the main compound design constraint is thermal stability at long machine runtime: the adhesive must remain colour-stable for 8 h without charring in heated hoses. Low antioxidant levels below 0.3 wt% allow viscosity increase and skin formation, while excessive wax above 28 wt% causes elastic strands to detach after cyclic elongation. Peel adhesion is measured by ASTM D1876-08 on bonded film/nonwoven specimens, and heat ageing is monitored by viscosity retention after 24 h at 170°C under inert gas. The end-use hygiene article is not a medical device, but converters commonly require absence of acute skin irritants and compliance with the manufacturer's restricted substance list, which is verified by supplier declarations rather than the resin standard alone.

When automotive interior laminates require fogging resistance, EVA 2815 must be compounded with hydrogenated tackifiers.

Automotive interior door panel, headliner and trunk trim lamination uses EVA 2815 as the elastic base polymer in hot melt coatings applied to foam, polyester textile and olefin substrates. In this segment, the 28 wt% vinyl acetate content improves low-temperature ductility at -10°C and below, but it reduces high-temperature shear resistance unless the tackifier is partially or fully hydrogenated. Typical processing windows range from 150°C to 190°C with roller coaters or slot dies, and the molten resin is maintained under nitrogen to limit oxidative discoloration. Fogging behaviour is not controlled by the EVA resin alone; the finished adhesive compound must be tested according to SAE J1756 or VDA 278, with pass/fail thresholds fixed by each OEM specification. Published data for EVA 2815 in automotive interior formulations is limited, so qualification requires coupon-level testing on the actual foam/textile stack. Heat resistance is measured by ASTM D4498-07 under a 1.0 kg load in a 70°C chamber, and peel strength is evaluated according to ASTM D903-98; the pass threshold is vehicle-line dependent. The primary incompatibility arises from residual acetic acid generated by vinyl acetate hydrolysis above 190°C; therefore, amine-functional additives and fillers that accelerate acid condensation should be avoided in compounding. Long transfer lines between melter and roller should be kept below 15 min residence time, and recirculation of unused molten adhesive should be limited to avoid viscosity drift.

Footwear counter lamination and toe puff activation

Stiffener sheets for shoe counters and toe puffs are produced by coating nonwoven or polyester fabrics with a hot melt compound in which Hanwha EVA 2815 provides the flexible polymer matrix. The coated sheet is die-cut and later activated in a heated mould or high-frequency press before being inserted between upper leather and lining. Typical coating viscosity at 170°C lies between 2,000 mPa·s and 4,000 mPa·s, which is obtained by adjusting wax and tackifier solids; 28 wt% vinyl acetate supplies enough polarity to adhere to leather dust and polyamide linings, while the 15 g/10 min melt flow rate under ASTM D1238-20 limits penetration through lightweight fabrics. A production-scale failure mode in this segment is strike-through, where the molten adhesive passes through the nonwoven carrier during coating and contaminates the casting belt. Strike-through is controlled by lowering coating temperature to 150°C–160°C and increasing filler loading with 3 wt%–6 wt% calcium carbonate or silica. Heat resistance in wearer trials correlates with ASTM D4498-07 heat-fail temperature, but published data for EVA 2815 in counter lamination is limited. The finished stiffener is tested for flex endurance and activation uniformity by repeated bending at -10°C after heat activation, following internal footwear manufacturer protocols rather than a single ISO designation.
